The SIGNALORIGIN® hybrid layout combination d-sub connectors are very popular connector for the reason that, as the name suggests, the connector mixes power and signal contacts in the same connector. For example, a 7W2 with the same dimensions as a 15-bit standard density D Sub means that there are 7 contacts, of which 2 are power contacts and 5 are signal contacts, so there are 5 signal and 2 power.

Combination d-sub connectors are ideally suited to applications where space needs to be optimized whilst improving overall shielding. These connectors reduce the number of I/O ports and reduce the potential for EMI/RFI leakage. In addition, The Power contacts of these connectors are available with current rating ranging between 10A – 40A with only the size of the terminal being different.
